Lafarge Canada and SalDan Construction Group Partner to Boost Housing Availability in Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Lafarge Canada and SalDan Construction Group are collaborating on two notable multi-unit developments in Sault Ste. Marie: The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 housing project and a 108-unit apartment building on Pim Street. These projects showcase innovative and sustainable building practices, integrating advanced concrete solutions such as insulating concrete forms (ICFs). Lafarge Canada specializes in delivering comprehensive sustainable building solutions, encompassing ready-mix concrete, cement, aggregates, and precast concrete.

With both buildings being made of ICF, we knew we needed a reliable concrete partner to make it happen. Lafarge Canada is a company we can always count on for their services and materials. As leaders in innovative and sustainable building solutions, we knew they were the contractors to make it happen.

Preserving the Heritage of the Legion

The Legion Branch 25 project not only addresses the need for an updated Legion building but also contributes to alleviating the current housing crisis. Lafarge Canada and SalDan Construction are dedicated to preserving the Legion’s heritage while enhancing housing affordability.

The project will provide 108 private suites, a gathering hall, meeting rooms, and museum amenities.

“We are proud to say that we have stayed on time and budget. Our crews and subcontractors have put in great efforts to ensure that we kept progressing throughout the development and we could not be happier with the results,” says Biasucci.

Downtown Living on Pim Street

In addition to the Legion project, Lafarge Canada and SalDan Construction Group have partnered on the development of a 108-unit apartment building located at 110 Pim Street, adjacent to the Algonquin Hotel. This project, in collaboration with Perzia Group Inc., aims to enhance downtown Sault Ste. Marie with modern, comfortable, and diverse living options. Progress includes the installation of core slabs and insulating concrete forms (ICF), marking significant milestones toward completion.

Working on the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 and the 110 Pim Street projects has been a rewarding experience for our team. Providing all the concrete for these developments, including the foundational and structural elements, highlights our capability to support large-scale construction with reliable, high-quality materials. We are proud to contribute to the growth and revitalization of Sault Ste. Marie through these impactful projects.
