Lafarge sets high standards for health, safety and the environment (HSE). Our goal is to conduct our business with zero harm to people while minimizing our environmental footprint. We embed HSE processes within our management systems to position our business for success.

HSE is a core value at Lafarge. To achieve our strategy, Ambition “0”, we are pursuing the following goals:

  • Reducing occupational health exposures to reach zero illnesses and injuries
  • Enhancing workforce wellbeing, engagement and performance
  • Facilitating attendance, productivity and retention of employees with illnesses or disabilities, where possible
  • Improving healthcare access in local communities
  • Enhancing endemic and pandemic disease preparedness

To engage our employees and stakeholders, we perform cultural assessments and participate in annual Global HSE Days. Employees can access visual tools and a growing library of e-learning modules produced in-house.

Promoting Well-being at Work

The six pillars of our Foundations of Wellbeing framework raise awareness about mental health and promote a behavioural shift toward improved employee well-being. Each pillar has operational objectives for implementation, supported by Group-wide tools, materials and guidance.

On the Road To Improved Safety for Drivers

Creating a safe road environment is a top priority for Lafarge since we rely heavily on transport to conduct our business. We've launched a road safety program based on three key items:

  • Driver training journey management
  • In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems
  • Driver feedback and coaching
