Lafarge recognized for diverse workplace culture
DECEMBER 14, 2020 - VANCOUVER, BC: As an early signatory of the Builders Code, Lafarge is thrilled to announce our win for Workplace Culture Champion (Large-Sized Employer) by the British Columbia Builders Code. We've been acknowledged for ongoing efforts in our operations to implement, maintain, and grow an environment that emphasizes both culture and values.
The evidence suggests that our initiatives are successful - we have seen an increase in women in our workforce year over year, and we continue to conduct annual training for both new hires and existing employees that help to prevent, recognize, and remedy issues such as bullying, harassment, respect in the workplace, and bystander training.
“We’re asking a very traditional, heavily male-dominated industry to change and to adapt to a new way of doing business and to new faces in the team. The Builders Code is an important piece of that puzzle that allows us to continue that journey and gives us another tool to engage in conversations with our workforce.” says Lincoln Kyne, Vice President General Manager British Columbia and Western Canada Aggregates, Lafarge.
We wish to extend our warm congratulations to our fellow winners of the 2020 Builders Code Champion Awards:
- Recruiting & Hiring Champion: Chinook Scaffold Systems
- Loyalty Champion: Westcana Electric
- Workplace Culture Champion: RAM Consulting Ltd. (medium sized employer) Lafarge Canada (large employer)
- Community Champion: Houle Electric

The BCBC has issued a compilation video highlighting each winner and their belief in the value of the BCBC. A further release, featuring an in-depth interview with Mr. Kyne, will be released in January 2021 - stay tuned!
