Lafarge Canada's statement in response to discrimination
An act of discrimination involving a symbol of hatred has taken place in one of our workplaces in Montreal. This is an incident that we will not condone or tolerate.
Since learning about the incident, we have conducted an investigation and in light of the information we have gathered, terminating the employment of the individual who perpetrated this act - the strongest possible sanction - was the right, and only, thing to do. This corrective measure serves as a testament to Lafarge Canada's position in regard to discrimination of all types, and our zero tolerance policy when it comes to such matters.
To further raise employee awareness and reinforce everyone's role in creating a positive work environment, we have communicated with all our employees across all of our sites and are encouraging them to speak up if they see, hear or witness acts that are of concern to themselves or others.
