Lafarge Canada Awarded Paving Contracts Across the Okanagan

Lafarge Canada has been awarded four new paving contracts in the Okanagan region, with work scheduled throughout 2025. These projects cover a range of highway resurfacing, municipal upgrades, and commercial development and represent a continued focus on delivering reliable infrastructure across British Columbia.

1. Highway 97 and Highway 33 Resurfacing

Lafarge has been selected to lead the asphalt resurfacing work on Highway 97 in West Kelowna and Highway 33 in Rutland. Awarded by the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, the $9.3 million project includes:

  • Cold milling at depths between 50mm and 150mm
  • Asphalt paving in layers of 50mm, 100mm, and 150mm
  • Shoulder repairs and drainage improvements

Work is set to begin in May 2025 and continue through September. R.A.P Tech Milling will support milling operations, with ATS Traffic managing traffic control.

2. Canadian Tire Kelowna – Store #353

As part of the construction of a new Canadian Tire location, Lafarge has been subcontracted to complete the asphalt paving. Working alongside  Norson Construction Ltd. and TNC Excavating, the $480,000 project involves placing approximately 2,800 tonnes of asphalt in three lifts: 50mm, 65mm, and 75mm.

Grading and base preparation began in late 2024 and were completed in April 2025.

3. City of Vernon 2025 Paving Program

Lafarge will deliver the City of Vernon’s paving program for 2025. The project includes resurfacing multiple high-traffic corridors, including roads near the airport, 25th Avenue, and Eastside Road. This project includes:

  • Cold milling to depths of 50mm to 100mm
  • Asphalt overlays in 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm thicknesses
  • A test section using Everflex Oil on Eastside Road

The project is expected to take five weeks, running through the summer and early fall. The contract is valued at $1.5 million.

4. Mountain View Road – Spallumcheen

Lafarge has been contracted by the Township of Spallumcheen to complete roadwork on Mountain View Road. This includes:

  • Placement of MMCD base crush
  • Full-depth reclamation using calcium chloride
  • Road regrading and two 50mm asphalt lifts
  • Driveway tie-ins for residents

The $1 million project begins June 2, 2025, and will take approximately five weeks to complete. It is being delivered in coordination with Urban Systems, R.A.P Tech Milling, and ATS Traffic.
