Biosolid capture enhances circular economy in BC at Lafarge’s Richmond plant

JUNE 23, 2020 - RICHMOND, BC: Good partnerships are a critical component for our license to operate, and will guide our industry into a more sustainable future. Our latest initiative with Victoria’s Capital Regional District (CRD) on Vancouver Island has implemented a creative new solution to maximize the potential of the region’s circular economy. We’re pleased to announce a long term contract with CRD to  provide a reliable, steady and safe supply of biosolids to use as fuel in our cement manufacturing at the Richmond plant.

The conference which is part of Reuters Events brings together CEOs and sustainability leaders every year, and is taking place virtually this June. The event is organized by the Ethical Corporation which is a leading platform for business intelligence for sustainability founded in 2001.

LafargeHolcim tops Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating in construction materials sector

Sustainalytics, a global leader in environmental, social and governance risks (ESG) and Corporate Governance research and ratings, published its latest LafargeHolcim ESG Risk Rating. Of all 101 construction materials companies analyzed, LafargeHolcim rated first. The company was also in the top 20% of all 12,000 companies assessed across all sectors.

It positions LafargeHolcim as the number one construction materials company within Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Rating, as well as the very first to rank below 20 in its “low risk” category.
