JOSEPH GVILDYS

Industrial Director, Western Canada

Joseph Gvildys serves as the Industrial Director at Holcim, where he has been a driving force in both manufacturing and distribution.  With over 15 years of experience in the cement industry, he currently oversees two cement plants and two slag grinding plants in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest US. Joseph has been instrumental in leading the transformation of these plants, elevating their performance metrics and spearheading digitization initiatives that have set new industry benchmarks.

His leadership extends beyond traditional operational metrics; he is a pioneering advocate for sustainability within the organization. Notably, he led the first plant in the world to achieve 100% ECOPlanet status and achieved double-digit CO2 emission reductions in recent years.

Joseph holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University. His contributions to the cement industry have been widely recognized; he was named in the "Top 40 Under 40" by On-Site Magazine and "Top 10 Under 40" by Rock to Road Magazine in 2022. With a focus on innovation, portfolio diversification, and sustainability, Joseph is steering Holcim towards a future that is not just profitable but also sustainable.
